Minor thought

This caught my eye while trawling through flickr: modern, Medieval-style church tilework:


Except it's not really Medieval-style at all, more like contemporary cartoon (I'm not using that term in a dismissive sense, at all -- I really like these).


They reminded me of some modern stained glass in an exquisite French Medieval chapel at Le Couvertoirade, that I photographed in the summer:


There's something very human and warm about these styles which, perversely, makes it much easier to identify with the spiritual. There's too much pompous and distancing Victoriana in most churches.
